Dreaming of Spring

It's currently 10 degrees in New York right now.  That's Fahrenheit not Celsius.  It feels like it's never going to warm up but maybe if I start buying more spring clothes it will come. As usual, I'm loving all the options from Emerson Fry. Although I saw a lot of girls wearing white jeans during fashion week, I like to hold off until at least it stops snowing.  The white brocade pants above would be a great alternative option once the weather cooperates. I've also never met a blue shirt I didn't like and this Emerson Shirting in cobalt is a chic option.

There are a few fall pieces left online including the Midi Boot to get you through until it does warm up.

It's always nice to invest in new basics as the seasons change and this Luxe Emerson T is a made from hemp for a more natural feel.

The Emerson Portfolio Cross Body Bag has a shoulder strap but can also be used as a clutch.  I think it would make a great laptop case too. The Emerson Wallet is pretty chic too.

I'm pretty sure I need these camel snakeskin and grey Patchtoe Slingbacks immediately.

The Kimono Robe would be perfect for lounging at home during this weekend's next snow storm.

I love the color of the Champagne Straight Slip too.

I'm probably the only New Yorker who doesn't own a leather coat but the Emerson Biker Jacket might be the one for me.

I love the silk textured fabric of the black Drop Shoulder Coat and the Big Black Bag.

The Graffiti Coat is the perfect transitional piece for spring.

Unfortunately, the leather pants are no longer available.  Bummer.

Black jeans are on my shopping list for spring and these Mick 2 in coal denim are a sexy option.

I always love the dresses at Emerson Fry and this Open Back Dress in the abstract print would be perfect for when the weather really heats up in the summer.

The Italian Cuff Heels aren't available until March but I have a feeling they're going to be very popular.

The white Shirt Hem Dress is calling my name.

The Italian Slapper also arrives in March.

Bon weekend!

Chic at Work: Jeanne Lanvin

I've seen fashion designer Jeanne Lanvin's former apartment in the Musée des Arts Decoratifs but I didn't realize her office had also been preserved for posterity. Lanvin has opened the usually closed off space in honor of the house's 125th anniversary. As you can see, it hasn't changed much since she was painted in it by Edouard Vuillard in 1933. Jeanne Lanvin began her career 1889 as a milliner as many fashion designer have but parlayed that into a full blown brand that still bears her name today. With the revolving door at most fashion houses, I can't imagine that anyone's office will remain intact ever again.  Such a shame.

Trademark Chic

I've been hearing about the new line Trademark for a few weeks but finally checked out their website today. I'm impressed by the initial collection from sisters Alexandra and Louisa Burch which was inspired by American minimalist design.  The look is a mix of chic but not boring basics that are reasonably priced with the most expensive pieces topping out around $500.  I especially love the Lucite bangles that remind me of my Lanvin bracelets but at a much better price. A few other things I like aren't available online yet so I'm hoping they will be soon.  Or maybe I will be able to find them once their store opens this April at 95 Grand Street downtown.  There is also a men's line in the works too. In case you don't know, Alexandra and Louisa are the daughters of Christopher Burch and step-daughters of Tory Burch. While they learned the ropes from their family, the duo joked that maybe they didn't ask for enough help from them but it looks like they're doing pretty well so far.

The Boss of Wu

You could tell something was up at the Hugo Boss by Jason Wu show today based on the front row. Diane Kruger, Reese Witherspoon, and Gwyneth Paltrow (photo by @bagsnob) were just down the row from Gerard Butler and Scott Eastwood.  The clothes that came down the runway won't just appeal to celebrities though. They are some of the best I've seen this fashion week and the midi length skirts and texture blocking are on point for autumn. It's always hard to get the real feel based on the front on runway shots so I've interspersed them with some instagram photos to show the movement of some of my favorite looks.
